Why Create a LLCA?

Porthleven Local Landscape Character Assessment

We are undertaking public consultation on the Porthleven Local Landscape Character Assessment that is being prepared by local volunteers for the Porthleven Neighbourhood Development Plan. The purpose of the landscape assessment is to balance proposals for future land use and development needs with landscape and environmental considerations.

 

 

What is a Local Landscape Assessment

• An assessment of your local landscape which identifies and explains the combination of features and elements that come together to make the landscape.

 

• The Local Landscape Character Assessment provides a framework to understand your landscape, its character, what gives the area its sense of place and its value.

 

• Celebrates what is important to local people and visitors.

 

• Undertaking a Local Landscape Character Assessment provides information that can assist in reasoned and informed judgements to be made on land-use and development, as well as what needs to be protected.

 

Why Create a Local Landscape Character Assessment

 

• To provide robust environmental evidence for your Neighbourhood Development Plan.

 

• To embed landscape considerations into the Neighbourhood Development Plan process and help you formulate appropriate policies.

 

• To help you make informed decisions to positively plan for future land-use and development, whilst protecting and respecting the environment.

 

• Enables environment considerations to be fully assessed when these judgements on the future of Porthleven Parish are made.

 

 

What We Need to Know

 

• We wish to obtain your views to help us prepare the Porthleven LLCA and we need to know how you value the Porthleven landscape.

 

• Please fill in the questionnaire. This will help us to understand what you value about the landscape of Porthleven and why you consider it important.

 

• Your comments will form part of the Porthleven Local Landscape Character Assessment. We therefore would welcome any observations you may have.

 

• We also need more volunteers to undertake further work on the Porthleven Local Landscape Character Assessment.
